Quick Steps To Resolve Error Code 0x97 Of An Epson Printer

Epson has been in the printers manufacturing from the last so many years. Their models are durable, efficient, and known for outstanding performance. At the same time, we can’t deny the fact that printers have a fair share of flaws.  The issues occur due to mechanical or technical reasons. The most common error that users come across with the Epson printers is error code 0x97.

Before this, we want to discuss the possible causes of this error. This error message can pop-up anytime when the printer is being used for an extended period. This error code stops the basic functioning of your printer which it is intended to be used for.

What causes Epson Error Code 0x97?

If there is an internal hardware issue with the printer or the motherboard is malfunctioning, then this error will appear. Try the below-mentioned troubleshooting steps to fix this error code.

  1. Disconnect everything from the printer: Cancel all printing jobs and remove the paper if jammed any inside the tray. Disconnect the cables connected to the printer which includes USB cord, power cords, and ink cartridges. Press the power button for 1 minute and plug the wires again to the printer. Try using the printer and check if the printer problem has been resolved or not.
  2. Reset your printer: This is another method of fixing the error code. Disconnect the cables and keep the printer in the same state for 5 minutes. Continue pressing the power button for 1 minute and check if the problem has been resolved or not. If not, then go to the next troubleshooting step.
  3. Clean print heat: Sometimes, the dirty and choked print head can be the reason behind an error 0x97 of Epson printer. To get out of this situation, clean the print head by implementing the below-mentioned techniques.

Step 1: Remove the cartridge from the print head and place cartridge in the towel. Now, remove the print head and clean it properly.

Step 2: Use the lint-free cloth damped in warm water to clean the print head. Clean the nozzle area properly until the black ink clears properly.

Step 3: Soak the print head in the water bowl for 5 minutes. Keep the water at a normal temperature. It should not be at the boiling point. Now, place the print head on the towel and let it rest for 10-15 minutes.

Step 4: Place the print head on the top of the paper towel and allow it pat-dry for 15 minutes. Insert the print head back to its place and re-install the cartridges to their respective place. Turn on the printer and check if the error gets removed or not.

Install and update the printer’s driver: More often, malware can be another cause of this error code. To get rid of this, install and update the malware protection online using the computer browser.
